From Trinidad & Tobago to Optometry

Born and raised on the island of Trinidad & Tobago, Dr. Ramsey dreamed of becoming a doctor and changing lives through vision. After attending Stranahan High School, he graduated cum laude with honors from the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, before pursuing his Doctor of Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee.

Throughout his career, Dr. Ramsey gained experience working alongside retailers, ophthalmologists, and private-practice optometrists. Those experiences helped shape his vision for a different kind of eye care practice: one where advanced clinical care, individualized attention, technology, fashion, and personal style could exist under one roof.

That vision became Socialite Vision: Eye Care with Style.

He has served as board chairman of the Palm Beach Optometric Association and as vice president of the T. Leroy Jefferson Medical Society. His approach to practice and patient care centers on setting trends rather than simply following them, often looking beyond traditional eye care for inspiration on how to create a more thoughtful and personalized healthcare experience.

Advancing Representation in Eye Care

Dr. Ramsey has also worked to increase representation and opportunity within the eye care profession. In 2019, he co-founded Black Eyecare Perspective, a nonprofit organization focused on building relationships and expanding pathways between Black communities and the eye care industry.

In May 2022, Dr. Ramsey received the New England College of Optometry Presidential Medal in recognition of his work through Black Eyecare Perspective.
